Better Late Than Never!

I have been slacking a little bit in getting pics and a story about my sister's visit. I blame the weather and an illness and the government.

That being said, we had fun. We kinda just kicked it, but I feel like we were going non-stop! I had no energy, since an ever present sinus infection/cold/flu was taking control of my life, yuck. Julie flew in Thursday night and I was terrified her flight was going to be cancelled!

Let me re-cap my week of her visit:
Sunday - started to feel sick. Sunday night, full on sick.
Monday - not going to work after such an icky night of puking.
Tuesday - attempted work, made it a half day and then came home and slept.
Wednesday - slept the morning away and made it another half day, rolling out of bed at noon.
Thursday - came to work feeling a little more rested, was sent home around 2 for "inclement weather"
Off Friday and the following Monday.

Now back to the "inclement weather" business...
It snowed in the DFW area. That is crazy enough. In my opinion, it should never ever snow south of the Mason Dixon line (I like to think of the Mason Dixon line as the US's equator - making it stretch all the way across, even though it doesn't). It snowed in the west and north suburbs of Dallas and that sent people into a panic. Now, with my background, I should I have no problem navigating in the snow, and I don't. Nor will my 4 wheel drive vehicle hinder my ability to drive in snow. It's not the snow I fear. It's the millions of Texans, driving in the snow, in their sports cars and and such, driving way too fast, talking on their cell phones, calling all their long lost relatives to tell them about the snow b/c it only snows here once every 10 yrs or so...that is what I am afraid of.
I imagine the airport takes one look out its windows and says, "No. No more planes. There is no way they can land in this stuff." And many many flights leaving DFW were delayed for hours upon hours, who knows about all the incoming. I called my sister, as she was about to board from home, and told her to remain calm (she doesn't fly much), but there is a chance she will get stuck in Mpls overnight and if that happens, here is what she needs to do ASAP. She wasn't very pleased with me. Ever the cautious one, I wanted her to be prepared. And to my delight, she made it, on time and we were there to greet her:)
Friday we went to a Scrapbook Warehouse event in Plano. We both got some great stuff and registered to win the $100 door prize. We headed out to the Disney store at the mall and got a phone call. Julie won the door prize!! She hasn't even been here for 12 hrs! So, back to the Convention Center we go! She is the best sister, she shared at least half of it with me, if not more. I luff her:) We went to Sam Moon on Friday too, something you have to experience when coming to Dallas. That night we went to Definitely, Maybe a super cute movie:) Isla Fisher is so cute.
Saturday we trekked all over the place. There were 2 Scrapbook Stores I had been wanting to check out...but they were in BFE...so this was a good excuse to go! Gotta Scrap in Rockwall and Scrappin' Bunnies in McKinney. They each had some cute stuff I can't get at the big box stores...and that is what I am after. Oh Archivers, will you just open up down the street from me already?!! What will it take? I'm begging you! Your biggest competition has already gone out of business! sorry, back to the story...Rockwall is cute! Right on a lake and tons of shops. And a lighthouse that we missed b/c my sister doesn't know how to give directions...We decided to mix things up and take some back roads up to McKinney and came across a quaint little town that is currently under construction. The. Whole. Town. Streets, stores, houses, you name it. What was meant to be a shortcut, was not. We got up to Scrappin' Bunnies and the owner was awesome. She has the Cricut Expression that I would love to own (Chi - no no) and she was so kind to show us new tricks and features and talk about little tips she has found out. Definitely a cool place. Downtown Dallas entertained us for awhile. We ran with the Longhorns (haha) and tried to go up in Reunion Tower, but the observation deck is closed until next year for renovations. We went tattoo shopping too, but I think this was the first step for Julie - she's not fully ready on what she wants, but I think she is fully convinced and that is the first hurdle.
Sunday included the obligatory trip to Sprinkles, after a long day of shopping in Grapevine. We tried to visit a glass blowing gallery/store...but they weren't doing any demonstrations, I was really bummed out. We drove around and around Texas stadium so my sister could see where Troy used to play (she was a huge Cowboys fan back in the day).
Monday we had the best pedicure I have ever had! At the Lily Day Spa. I think that I am in love with them! It was at least an hr long and they used hot stones during the leg massage. Hmmm, so nice:) Well, when your feet look this good, you need something to accessorize them with...shoes! My DSW is of rock star quality, so we went in our little foam flip flops from the salon to get some great looking shoes. Within minutes of arriving, my little foam flip had it's last flop. I was hobbling around the store like a crazy person trying to have a little something between my feet and the floor. Never a dull moment. And I did get some really cute new shoes! But where to store all these shoes you ask? Well, that's what I got at the Container Store! For all of you who just love to organize and sort and store, this is the place for you! Soon after, it was time to take Jules to the airport. I'm so glad she was here:)

Honey, helping me with laundry this weekend
